Workshop on Astronomy

This year is a “International Year of Astronomy 2009.” The International Year of Astronomy 2009 is a global effort initiated by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and UNESCO. We are also glad to announce that 16^th September is a date of conception of Gaganvedhi group and we wish to celebrate the sixth anniversary this year.

On this occasion we are going to organize a one day workshop on “Astronomy for students” on 21^st September 2009. Prof. Mohan Apte, Mumbai, who has contributed and also a well known writer having more than thirty books on his account in field of astronomy, is invited as a chief guest. The program contains lectures, do-it-yourself, telescope handling and sky-watch. We are also having an essay writing competition for school students and poster presentation for college students.

            We invite students from all institute to attend this program. It will help them to understand the concepts related to astronomy and have interaction with eminent personalities from this field. It will create interest among the students about this field of science. The details of workshop are given below.
